Luts’s photos lay bare the grit of modern life, where aspirations meet failure and promises meet reality. Static citizens frozen in their own endeavours and identities pepper Luts’s urban landscapes like so many lamp posts, road signs and wheelie bins, lost souls of the city in a perpetual state of limbo.
‘Everything Must Go’ is a collection of photographs capturing stolen moments in time, where the confluence of people and objects weave themes of consumerism, inequality and alienation with tenderness. While Luts allows these themes to breathe, a simple reading is subtly but consistently undermined by an awkward realism, irony or unique happenstance.
Luts’s photography revels in the diversity of characters upon the world's stage, in a place where accidents are beautiful and contradictions celebrated.
Luts is a Melbourne based independent photographic artist. All Luts' original images are offered for sale in numbered and signed series. Apart from commissioned work, Luts also produces interior installation pieces where he works closely with interior designers and architects. Luts has also worked solo and collaborated on web projects, film projects, mixed media, and digital artwork that has been used for album cover art, poster art, and various other forms of publication.
